Rays of Hope!!!

Hello friends!!!
This week is really very very enlightening as far as our course is concerned. We have been made to use technology in planning our lessons, in discussing reading-writing skills, in projecting our problems that we face in the classroom situation. But one thing that I liked about everything is that we have learnt a great deal about using web based material in our classrooms. I am sure this will greatly benefit both the teachers and students.
When we used to go for Teacher-training programs, all the teachers will share similar problems: the learners' inability to develop the language skills in a traditional English classroom. Even after the change of syllabus, the situation has remained the same. So it has always been a pathetic situation to be a part of such a teaching-learning process where we can't do anything to bring in a desired change.
But now I can see rays of hope!!! Use of web material will definitely change the attitude of both the students as well as teachers with traditional mindset. Once they get the opportunity to use the web-enhanced material, they will be highly motivated to take active part in the teaching learning process. These feelings dawned in me when I was preparing the technology enhanced Lesson plans for my students. Now I know we can surely change the mindset of both the learners as well as teachers as technology, if used in the right way, will enliven the whole scenario and make the ESL teaching more easy.
That's all for today..
Love,Nizara

  1. Yes, there is hope. Of course when you're sort of a pioneer, they will frown at you and see you as the nerdy tech teacher always carrying a laptop, a projector, sometimes a subwoofer around as I do. Never mind! I would die of boredom if I only used the coursebook and those chalk and talk strategies.

    1. Yes Luisa, you are absolutely right. we need to find ways and means to bring changes to our teaching-learning situations. You know some of my students have not even seen a laptop!! Imagine their expression when I start using the laptop in the classroom with the aid of the LCD projector!!

  2. Dear Nizara,

Yes, technology can make teaching easier and more effective as long as the teacher can manage it systematical. I am now wondering and imagining a huge workload awaiting if I wish to use technology as a key tool in teaching. But, I am happy to know I have a lot of international friends to exchange and to share.

  3. Dear Nizara.

Let's reply our ideas, let's spread our voice in many places where unmotivated teachers don't want to offer innovations in their class. In each country, we have our weakness, and problems in our classrooms, but let's fight against lazyness, lack of resources of technology and incompetences in our teaching context.Technology is a diamond in class, let's encourage to use it...

    1. Yes Orquida.. We do have a bigger role to play (which I am trying to do)to motivate not only my learners abut also the unmotivated teachers. They find it pretty convenient to use the traditional mode of teaching through textbooks, talk and chalk. So going into newer zones where they need to work hard, they simply ignore such moves. Thus the positive change has not been emerging as we desire.. But I believe in due course of time we will be able to change this mindset and transform the rays of hope to beam of light to enlighten the horizons of both teachers and learners..

      Regards,
      Nizara
