Delving deep into the web world...

Hello!!!
This is a week of great learning as I delved deep into the world of web.. Learnt about the bookmarking through Delicious.com. Initially I was apprehensive about the whole process as I am not a very techno-savvy person. When the task was given, I was at a loss. But gradually as I tried and tried, I could make stacks where I can save the links and share it with my friends. This is a great leap indeed for two reasons: one, we can always save the links there which we might go back later for the benefit of us as teachers as well for our students; and second, we can share it with our friends, students and get their feedback too.
As the week passed we had to write on the discussion board. The websites and links provided took me to another world!!! It is as if I started learning English all anew!! I always faced difficulty in teaching the Listening and Speaking skills to my students who are from a rural background and have no resources also to learn. But having said that, I have to acknowledge that the incompetency of the learner its not simply my problem . I find that it is the problem of most of the learners in India who hails from a rural background. So after visiting the websites and links, I have seen some rays of hope to bring them to the specific level. I can very well use them in my classroom context.

Again from the Final Project of Tendouinde Bruno Nikiema from the American Language Center in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, I found that it reflects my classroom situation. So I decided to write on it. The project is very nicely carried out keeping in mind the students and their context. So going through this project report really made me think about my Report which I will complete by the end of this course.

As a whole the course is very enlightening so far and it is taking us gradually from the simple to the difficult level without our being aware of it. Looking forward to more of such learning moment...

  1. Hello Nizana,

I was experiencing exactly what you said. I was confused with adding Links, creating stacks, adding tags...at first, and even now. But things seem clearer when I visited our friends'blogs.
We are here to share and to raise our concerns to be shared.
I am happy now as I can see my little progress day after day.

  2. Nizana, Great that you stuck with social bookmarking and conquered your hesitation. I agree it is great to have your stuff stored "in the cloud." But one word of caution. Delicious was bought out about a year ago and when it transitioned to the new owner I lost al my old bookmarks. So it is always good to be a bit cautious.
